DIARECT Newsletter

Dear Madam or Sir,

Having joined the 2011 AACC and AMLI Annual Meetings, we had the possibility to meet with our valued customers from all over the world and to discuss their latest research findings on novel autoantigens as well as newly developed techniques being introduced.

In the present newsletter, DIARECT would like to inform you about upcoming events in fall 2011, that will be joined by members of the DIARECT team and invite you to meet with us.
Also, we would like to introduce the newest member of SurModics' quality immunodiagnostic reagents
SurModics® Assay Diluent,
which exclusively will be distributed by DIARECT in the European market.

For more information on DIARECT's major product line, human recombinant autoantigens as well as our SurModics protein stabilization products and BioFX substrates, please visit our website at www.diarect.com.

Pleasant reading,

Your DIARECT team

10th Dresden Symposium on Autoantibodies

Established in 1990 to link researchers and clinicians involved in basic research and clinical diagnostics of autoimmune diseases as well as the treatment of patients and the development of new therapeutic agents, the Dresden Symposium on Autoantibodies will be held for the tenth time this week.

DIARECT will be attending the anniversary event from September 22 – 25, which is entitled “From Prediction to Prevention of Autoimmune Diseases” and organized by the Institute of Immunology of the Dresden Technical University in cooperation with the Association for the Advancement of Immune Diagnostics and the Section Immunodiagnostics of the German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine.
The international conference will focus on different aspects of the pathogenesis, the prediction, novel treatment regimes and prevention of systemic and organ specific autoimmune diseases as well as autoimmune graft rejections.

Introducing SurModics Assay Diluent (Protein-Free)

With the increased use of antibody therapy, and animal derived products being used to treat patients, the prevalence of heterophilic antibodies, human anti-mouse antibodies (HAMA), human anti-animal antibodies (HAAA), and rheumatoid factors (RF), is becoming an increasing problem for assay developers. With immunoassays pursuing lower detection limits, multiplexing analytes, and higher sample through-put, the negative effects of heterophilic antibodies, HAMA, along with matrix effects needs to be addressed. A new fully synthetic sample diluent developed by SurModics IVD allows the dramatic reduction of false positives in both in-house and commercially available kits, without having to sacrifice assay sensitivity. The protein-free formulation removes any possible risk of BSA-related issues in sample quantitation.

Features of SurModics Assay Diluent (Protein-Free):
  • Reduces matrix interferences, such as HAMA and RF
  • Minimizes signal suppression while it lowers background (see graph below)
  • Incorporates easily into your assay format
  • Provides a protein-free alternative
  • Reduces false positive results
  • For use as a sample diluent and standard curve diluent
