Glycoprotein 2 (GP2) is a GPI-anchored protein abundantly produced by the pancreas, but is also expressed on intestinal membranous cells (M-cells), where it serves as a receptor for the phagocytosis of FimH+ Gram-negative bacteria to induce the mucosal immune response. Some results suggest an additional immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory function of GP2.
